The US Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane has awarded a contract to ManTech for agile development of sensors for the service’s Hawkeye aircraft.
Valued at $45m, the contract was awarded by under the US Department of Defense Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC), Defense Systems Technical Area Task (DS TAT), multiple award contract issued by the Air Force Installation Contracting Agency.

Under the four-year deal, the company will be responsible for the technical advancement of sensors used by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) on its PMA-231 Hawkeye aircraft.
ManTech president and chief executive officer Kevin M Phillips said: “ManTech’s agile approach to sensor development and platform integration will drive efficiency, add flexibility for adopting emerging technologies and lead the way to new capabilities that enhance the US Navy warfighter’s mission.”
Referred to as ‘the eyes of the fleet’, the PMA-231 Hawkeye aircraft is equipped with integrated, automated sensors that help provide surveillance, identification, and tracking of threat aircraft and cruise missile systems, ensuring enhanced situational awareness.
The company will make use of its DoD-wide experience with sensor integration and support, as well as flexible software engineering and development techniques, to improve sensor performance in rapid-fire sprints and speed up delivery of vital intelligence.
