The first project covers the deployment of microwave by a western region naval training base to deliver high-speed communications to the US Navy pilots and other range users.

Under the second project, navy personnel will use the microwave radios across tactical training ranges to ensure high-speed communications for fleet training personnel.

Also, the microwave deployments will help establish critical communications with zero dependencies on historically unreliable leased services including the ones built with fibre.

Aviat Networks president and chief executive officer Michael Pangia said: “Critical communications like that of the US Navy must be built with the highest reliability while also supporting next-generation video-based applications.

“Critical communications like that of the US Navy must be built with the highest reliability while also supporting next-generation video-based applications.”

“Aviat’s value proposition for Federal agencies is based on delivering the most dependable solutions for our customers’ most critical applications.”

The company noted that for federal agencies, microwave offers enhanced reliability and higher capacity than leased services in order to support high-speed data, particularly video-based communications.

In times of network failures, owned microwave infrastructure allows agencies to recover faster as they are not dependent on a third-party to resolve the issues.

In addition to the US Navy, the company has deployed the microwave radios with other federal agencies including the US Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Energy (DoE) and their supporting agencies.

The radios are approved for all licensed National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) fixed frequency bands.
