The US Navy’s Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) has successfully completed Tailored Ship’s Training Availability (TSTA) final evaluation period (FEP).
The navy vessel has concluded the TSTA FEP in collaboration with the US Navy’s Carrier Strike Group 12, Destroyer Squadron 2, and Carrier Air Wing 7.

During the TSTA assessment, Afloat Training Group (ATG) investigated and evaluated the aircraft carrier on a wide range of areas such as medical emergency responses, damage control environments, and everyday watchstanding.
ATG member damage controlman 1st class Jordan Bailey said: “The issues that were identified in-port and the recommendations that were given by ATG were definitely taken on by the crew.
“I could tell the recommendations and training were taken seriously. The improvement that I saw over the last two weeks was very impressive, and it goes to show the kind of crew the Lincoln has and the dedication they have to getting the mission done.”
Capabilities of the crew members were also tested on mass casualty responses, stretcher bearer skills, and flopper drills, where sailors were required to respond to medical casualties in their own workspace.

As part of the TSTA FEP, CVN 72 successfully served as the delivery vessel to conduct fuelling at sea with the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87).
During the event, USS Abraham Lincoln demonstrated its ability to deliver fuel to navy ships in the Carrier Strike Group 12 while the vessels carried out different operations.
Named after the 16th president of the US, CVN 72 was launched on 13 February 1988 and commissioned into service with the navy on 11 November 1989.
