If delivered, the new ESSM weapon systems are expected to be used on board the Mexican Navy’s Sigma 10514 class vessel.

The shipboard systems will help the country significantly increase and bolster its maritime operations, as well as provide enhanced defence capabilities of critical sea lanes.

This will help improve the Mexican Navy’s maritime partnership potential and align its capabilities with existing regional navies.

Raytheon Missile Systems will serve as the primary contractor to the proposed deal.

Being an international cooperative upgrade of the RIM-7 Seasparrow Missile, the ESSM offers self-defence battlespace and firepower against high-speed, highly manoeuvrable anti-ship missiles in the naval environment.
