RSN’s Fearless-class vessels had been operational since 1996 and were the navy’s first warships to be designed and constructed indigenously.

"The success of these two PVs would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication, professionalism, tenacity and sacrifices of many generations of officers and crew."

The vessels were used to protect Singapore’s maritime interests and ensure territorial integrity through a wide range of at-sea operations, including maritime surveillance, and patrol and escort operations.

In addition, RSS Daring and RSS Resilience each participated in several bilateral and multilateral exercises with foreign navies.

RSS Daring was originally commissioned on 3 May 1997 with RSS Resilience following on 7 February 1998.
