The Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) two Fearless-class patrol vessels, RSS Daring and RSS Resilience, have been decommissioned during a ceremony held at the Tuas Naval Base.
The decommissioning ceremony represented the progressive handing over of duties from the two legacy patrol ships to the RSN’s new Littoral Mission Vessels (LMVs).

RSN’s Fearless-class vessels had been operational since 1996 and were the navy’s first warships to be designed and constructed indigenously.
The vessels were used to protect Singapore’s maritime interests and ensure territorial integrity through a wide range of at-sea operations, including maritime surveillance, and patrol and escort operations.
In addition, RSS Daring and RSS Resilience each participated in several bilateral and multilateral exercises with foreign navies.
RSS Daring was originally commissioned on 3 May 1997 with RSS Resilience following on 7 February 1998.

“The RSN salutes RSS Daring and RSS Resilience for their decades of unwavering service.
“Their qualities, values and contributions shall continue to inspire the men and women of the RSN for generations to come.”
The LMVs are set to be equipped with advanced capabilities and will be fully operational by 2020.
