“With the delivery of EPF 9 to the fleet, the navy continues to provide a variety of capabilities to US operations around the globe.”

EPFs are shallow draft, all-aluminium, commercial-based catamarans that are capable of transporting both intra-theatre personnel and cargo loads.

The vessels are able to provide enhanced operational flexibility for a number of activities such as manoeuver and sustainment, relief operations and flexible logistics support.

Furthermore, the Spearhead-class ships feature a flight deck to support the day and night launch of a CH-53 helicopter, in addition to recovery operations.
