Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has won a research and development (R&D) support contract worth $371.2m from the US Missile Defense Agency.

The deal will see the company provide warfighter support, product improvement and engineering services for the Sea-Based X-Band (SBX) radar and the US Army Navy Transportable Radar Surveillance Control Model-2 (AN/TPY-2) until October 2022.

Navantia has entered an agreement with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works to co-develop the FFG(X) guided missile frigate for the US Navy.

The partnership is expected to provide the navy with affordable light-surface combatant technology based on Navantia’s family of Aegis frigates.

General Dynamics has awarded a follow-on contract to Saab for the supply of Sea Giraffe AMB naval radar systems.

Saab is set to supply Sea Giraffe AMB multi-role 3D surveillance radar units for installation on-board the US Navy’s LCS 28 and LCS 30 littoral combat ships under the arrangement.

The company is expected to provide repair and maintenance services as part of the arrangement, as well as ensure the continued availability of the long-range radar (LRR) on-board six Type 45 Daring-class destroyers.
