The Russian Navy’s first Borey-A-class strategic ballistic missile submarine, SSBN Knyaz Vladimir, has been floated out at the Sevmash enterprise in Severodivnsk.
The underwater missile carrier will now undergo an entire range of factory and state tests following the new milestone.

SSBN Knyaz Vladimir is an indigenously built cruiser and represents the fourth-generation of nuclear submarines.
Russian Navy commander-in-chief (CINC) admiral Vladimir Korolev said that the launch of the ship will serve as an important practical step in equipping the Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces with the new generation of nuclear submarines.
The Borey-A-class underwater missile carriers possess modern and advanced specifications compared to its predecessors, the traditional Borey-class vessels.
Korolev further added: “Currently, there are another four hulls of the nuclear underwater cruisers with ballistic missiles on-board to be built at the building berths of the Sevmash enterprise.

The nuclear missile submarine will be received by the Russian Navy and is expected to form the basis of the Naval Strategic Nuclear Forces once commissioned.
It is being constructed at the Sevmash Shipyard, where its workers were also involved in the development of a nautical missile-nuclear shield for the Russian Federation.
The Russian shipbuilding company has 78 years’ experience in the industry and has constructed a total of 132 nuclear and 41 diesel-electric submarines to date.
