The STINGRAI programme will support SOUTHCOM in detecting, monitoring, and responding to unauthorised activities across Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, while also improving intelligence and reconnaissance operations relevant to US national security objectives.
As part of the contract, HII will coordinate a team to deliver intelligence gathering capabilities, advanced technologies, and adaptable multi-domain platforms to SOUTHCOM and its partner nations in support of operational readiness.
The award, made under the General Services Administration’s ASTRO Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, covers one base year with an option for six additional years.
HII executive vice president and HII’s Mission Technologies division president Andy Green said: “This award is an incredible opportunity and goes right to the heart of what SOUTHCOM needs — clearer visibility, faster decision making, and the ability to stay ahead of rapidly changing threats.
“Our team understands the complexity of this region, and we’re proud to support the command with solutions that help protect US interests and strengthen security across the hemisphere.”
The programme assists SOUTHCOM in addressing transnational criminal organisations, drug cartels, and drug trafficking operations, while giving commanders increased flexibility to respond to evolving threats and changes in regional security conditions.
The command oversees US defence activities and partnerships throughout Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
