The US Navy has awarded Astronics Test Systems (ATS) a follow-on five-year production contract worth $36.4m for the supply of radio frequency distribution and control system (RFDACS) for its fleet of submarines.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, ATS will manufacture, test and deliver the RFDACS and related spare parts.

With this new contract, the company will deliver production systems and spare parts to the US Navy for five more years.

The RFDACS is a cruicial subsystem, designed to automatically route RF signals and information between the various antenna systems and other submarine communication subsystems, and forms an integral part of the common submarine radio room.
