Kongsberg’s solution is designed to provide real time video that monitors helicopter deck operations in extreme low-light conditions aboard Naval Surface Ships. The system is also capable of meeting US MIL standards.

Initially developed three decades ago, the first produced units are still in service with naval forces, the company stated.
The new version of the system will be able to support internet protocol (IP) and offers an easy integration to the video management software packages.
According to Kongsberg video management software packages are becoming increasingly popular onboard new-build vessels and existing vessels are being equipped with the system during mid-life upgrades.
The modular system design and backwards compatibility of the line replaceable modules will offer a simple and cost effective upgrade path for the upgraded HOSS.

By GlobalDataKongsberg Maritime completed the system upgrade earlier this year and the delivery of the first unit is expected to be in the third quarter of the year.
In July, the Swedish Navy selected Kongsberg Maritime sonar systems to install on its Tapper-class fast patrol boats.
The delivery under this order includes SA9510S mine avoidance and navigation sonar, as well as its EM 2040 Dual RX multibeam echosounder.
