The US Navy’s eighth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) has successfully completed tailored ship’s training availability (TSTA) and final evaluation problem (FEP).
With the completion of TSTA and FEP, the vessel will begin the next phase of its inter-deployment training cycle, composite training unit exercise, prior to its next deployment.

USS Harry S Truman commanding officer captain RB Scholl said: "I am always impressed by the sailors’ performance.
"The enthusiasm, superb focus, effort, and training made for an outstanding performance during this TSTA and FEP evolution."
TSTA, the first combined training event of a ship’s inter-deployment training cycle, is designed to test and evaluate shipboard drills, damage control, medical, navigation, intelligence, and combat systems.
According to the US Navy the vessel crew completed both TSTA and FEP four days ahead of schedule and achieved an overall score of 96%.

By GlobalDataTruman training officer lieutenant commander CR Harmon said: "Truman sailors trained for countless hours, with over 30 GQs, as well as individual drills, briefing and debriefing, in preparation for TSTA and FEP."
Harmon also said that the same type of successful performance is expected from the crew during the next phase of training.
Capable of cruising at a maximum speed of more than 30k, the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier has a full-load displacement of 102,000t and can carry a crew of 6,000.
The vessel is armed with three Raytheon GMLS mk29 eight-cell launchers for Nato Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missiles.
