Orbital ATK has secured an award worth $426m from US Naval Air Systems Command for first article test, qualification and production of FMU-139D/B fuses and accessories.
The latest contract covers qualification and first article testing activities, and the company will receive $24m as an initial amount for the contract from the US Navy and Marine Corps.

Orbital ATK Defense Systems Group president Mike Kahn said: "With our history of innovation and track record for dependable performance, Orbital ATK continues to demonstrate its commitment as a technology partner to the US Government.
"FMU-139 D/B is a prime example of Orbital ATK’s leadership in precision-guided munitions."
Work under this contract will be performed at its Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) facility in Rocket Center, West Virginia, in collaboration with the company’s design facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, US.
According to Orbital ATK, production is expected to run through to May 2024.

By GlobalDataOrbital ATK’s FMU-139D/B is designed to increase the capability of the military’s longstanding, general purpose FMU-139 bomb fuse, the company stated.
The solution will offer better performance in the areas of reliability, increased fuse functionality, and capacity to defeat hard and deeply buried targets.
Orbital ATK Defense Systems Group Missile Products vice-president and general manager Pat Nolan said: "Orbital ATK’s FMU-139D/B will be the cornerstone of the military’s general purpose bomb fuse for the foreseeable future.
"This award affirms our position as a technology leader within the military fuse and sensor industry, and will deliver more capability and greater reliability to our warfighter."
In September, Orbital ATK secured a contract worth up to $260m from the US Navy for the fourth and fifth full-rate production lots of the advanced anti-radiation guided missile (AARGM).
It covers all-up round missiles and captive air training missiles for the US Navy and the Italian Air Force, as well as the second foreign military sales order for the Royal Australian Air Force.
