Vector Aerospace has signed a contract with the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to carry out all maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for T-58 engines of the Sea King helicopter fleet.

Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services North America president Paul Cockell said: "We are thrilled to have been re-selected by DND to be their sole T-58 engine MRO provider.

"We have been a proud supporter of DND for over twenty consecutive years, consistently providing top quality products on time and on budget."

The General Electric T-58 turboshaft engine was first developed in 1953 and is designed for helicopter use.

Vector Aerospace is a registered overhaul facility with full repair, overhaul and test capability for the T-58, as well as GE's T700 military variants And CT58 and CT7 civil models.

For T-58, Vector performs failure analysis, component repair, worldwide field service, service bulletin (S/B) compliance, foreign object damage (FOD) repair, model conversions, complete test capabilities, parts support, and engineering support.

"We are thrilled to have been re-selected by DND to be their sole T-58 engine MRO provider."

Manufactured by AgustaWestland under licence from Sikorsky, the Sea King anti-submarine helicopter features an ability to pick up loads heavier than a Land Rover and can operate day and night, in good weather and bad, and at low-level over the sea and over land.

In addition, the company is currently performing assemble inspection and test (AIT) for the CT7-8A7 engines for the new Sikorsky CH-148 (H92) Cyclone helicopters in Canada.

Canada is acquiring 28 Cyclone aircraft for the Canadian Armed Forces. The new aircraft are expected to replace the existing Sea King fleet that will be retired later this year.

The Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone is a twin-engine, multi-role maritime helicopter designed to perform a full range of anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, search and rescue, and utility missions in various environments.
