US Navy awards environmental quality programmes support contract to BMT

BMT Designers & Planners, a subsidiary of the global international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, BMT Group, has been awarded an environmental quality programmes support contract by the US Navy.

Under the $43m contract, which will be performed over a span of five years, BMT is expected to extend its environmental, engineering, and logistics services to assist the programme and other similar client requirements.

"BMT's range of services will include support for expeditionary energy technology."

The enterprises that will be served by BMT include the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA); Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD); and NSWCCD Ship Systems Engineering Station for existing and future programmes / technologies supporting the US Navy, US Army, US Coast Guard, US Marine Corps, Foreign Military Sales, and joint programmes worldwide.

BMT's range of services will include support for expeditionary energy technology. It will extend its service on the environmental ground by means of its ship discharge and waste stream analysis.

Other services include research and development, in-service engineering, and programme management.

BMT Designers & Planners business development vice-president Rick Cox said: "We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the Navy by continuing to provide expert engineering support."

The company was earlier awarded a contract by the US Navy's environmental and conservation programmes, worth $5.7m, to provide technical and analytical support for the NAVSEA Laboratory Quality and Accreditation Office (LQAO) and affiliated agencies.
