Mikros to support ADSSS CBM system development for US Navy’s LCS programme

Mikros Systems has been contracted by the US Navy for the production, logistics support and future development of its ADEPT distance support sensor suite (ADSSS) condition based maintenance (CBM) system for its littoral combat ship (LCS) programme.

The $48m, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) multi-year contract will cover the first eight vessels of the US Navy’s 28-ship programme.

Mikros president and CEO Tom Meaney said: “This is the largest contract Mikros has ever been awarded, and it is a breakthrough for our predictive maintenance systems and software.

Micros developed and expanded its adaptive diagnostic electronic portable testset (ADEPT) product line under a $26m IDIQ contract awarded by the US Navy in 2010.

ADEPT has been assigned to support the maintenance, alignment, calibration, and error detection of complex electronic systems.

This results in an improved system readiness and operational performance, while decreasing the requirement of manpower support and life cycle support costs.

ADSSS provides CBM for mission-critical complex distributed systems using smart sensors, model-based prognostics and secure fault-tolerant networking.

The smart sensors enable flexible, scalable and an extensive collection of data and fault-tolerant networks.

ADSSS’s model-based prognostics converts large amount of data into actionable information operations, maintenance and logistics, while a secure fault-tolerant network helps protect critical operational data.
