BAE Systems has been contracted by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) to provide technical support for the US Navy's communications and electronics.
Under the $34m contract, the company will provide logistics management, planning and integration support, technical publications, configuration management, engineering, training, and hardware tracking.
The contract aims to support and maintain the lifecycle of vital communications and electronics.
The technical support will be provided at sites in Southern Maryland, US, as well as Chesapeake, Virginia; Fayetteville, North Carolina; San Diego, California; and multiple international locations for a period of two years.
BAE Systems integrated electronics and warfare systems vice-president and general manager Mark Keeler said: "We have provided technical expertise and service to NAWCAD for 25 years.
"Our employees are deeply committed to delivering for our customer and supporting their global mission."
BAE Systems provides a broad range of solutions and services, including intelligence analysis, cyber operations, IT, systems development, systems integration, and operations and maintenance to enable the US military and government to recognise, manage, and defend against threats.
The company has recently secured a separate $11m contract from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to develop next-generation electronic warfare (EW) technology that is claimed to quickly detect, locate, and identify emitters of radio frequency signals.
This contract was awarded as part of ONR's Electronic Warfare Discovery and Invention programme, which seeks to develop and demonstrate next-generation electronic warfare systems that exploit, deceive, or deny enemy use of the electromagnetic spectrum while ensuring its unfettered use by friendly forces.
