The US Navy’s expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Fall River (T-EPF-4) has concluded voyage repair availability in Laem Chabang, Thailand.

The navy vessel underwent a series of critical maintenance works during the 28-day upgrade period, which will allow the ship to continue its theatre security cooperation efforts throughout the region.

USNS Fall River is one of three expeditionary fast transport vessels in the US 7th Fleet area of responsibility, which primarily provides rapid intra-theatre transportation of troops and military equipment.

"By conducting maintenance away from the ship’s homeport, the US Navy is afforded greater operational flexibility to remain forward deployed and provide naval presence."

US Navy Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7 commodore captain Lex Walker said: “The ability to conduct voyage repairs in Laem Chabang represents the strong relationship we have with the nation and people of Thailand.

“By conducting maintenance away from the ship’s homeport, the US Navy is afforded greater operational flexibility to remain forward deployed and provide naval presence in cooperation with our regional partners.”

Laem Chabang is claimed to be the largest port in Thailand and is capable of accommodating nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines.
