The Indonesian Navy has awarded a contract for a complete Terma C-Series Combat Suite for four KCR-60 fast attack vessels.

Terma will deliver the C-Flex combat management system, SCANTER 4603 X-band radar, C-Guard decoy launching system, C-Fire electro optical fire control system for each of the vessels.

The contract for the Terma C-Series Combat Suite also includes full system integration of shipborne sensors and effectors such as naval guns and missile systems.

Under the contract, Terma is also required to serve as combat system integrator.

Terma Group president and CEO Jens Maaløe said: “Terma supports Indonesia’s ambitions and aspirations of developing its own defence industry. Transfer of technology and growing together with our partners are in line with the business philosophy of Terma.

“This contract is an important breakthrough for Terma as it represents the first sale of a complete Combat System in Indonesia, and the third in the region.”

“We have already, together with a local partner, established a local Combat Management System development centre based on our C-Flex solution. This will further empower and also enable us to better support our Indonesian customers, and we look very much forward to further strengthening the collaboration with non-defence and defence partners in Indonesia.”

The order is significant for Terma as it represents the first sale of a complete combat system in the Southeast Asian nation.

Terma Asia Pacific vice-president and general manager Anupam Narain Mathur said: “This contract is an important breakthrough for Terma as it represents the first sale of a complete Combat System in Indonesia, and the third in the region.”

In December last year, the Indonesian Ministry of Defence awarded a contract to state-owned shipyard PT PAL for four KCR-60 fast attack craft.

The scope of the contract involved the upgrade of two KCR-60 fast attack craft with new combat management systems and the construction of two more ships of the same model.

PT PAL will build all the vessels at its facilities in Surabaya.
