AN/TPQ-49 is a counterfire radar that uses a non-rotating, electronically steered antenna to provides continuous 360° surveillance and 3D rocket, artillery and mortar (RAM) location. It is a current US Marine Corps programme of record.

The combat-proven AN/TPQ-49 system provides troops with early warning and location of the rocket and mortar threats.

The company is planning to recruit people for more than 300 positions in 2019. These recruits will be for areas such as digital, systems and software engineering, integration/testing, field application support, as well as programme management.

US representative John Katko (NY-24) said: “This funding will ensure SRC can continue to produce modern systems to keep the men and women of our military safe while providing good-paying and highly technical jobs here in Central New York.

“SRC remains a worldwide leader in producing this innovative technology. This award will ensure the company is able to continue its work and help grow our region’s local economy.”
