Serco has secured a potential five-year $162m contract to continue providing professional support services to the US Navy’s Amphibious Warfare Program Office (PMS 377).

Under the contract, Serco will provide services such as test and evaluation programme support, acquisition and life cycle management, technical management support, and integrated logistics support.

The recompete contract includes a base performance period of one year and four one-year option periods.

The contract will be performed by Serco’s Naval Systems business. The company acquired the business unit from Alion Science and Technology in August.

The Naval Systems business started providing direct programme support to the Amphibious Warfare Program Office in 2009.

Serco chairman and CEO Dave Dacquino said: “This was a critical recompete win for Serco, as it reinforces our ability to deliver the design, integrate, support lifecycle for the US Navy.

“Serco is now one of the largest providers of naval modernisation services in the US and winning programmes like PMS 377 will continue to be a strategic priority for the company going forward.”

The company will continue to support the new construction and delivery of amphibious ships and crafts for the US Navy.

The contract also includes providing services that support the entire programme lifecycle of four classes of US Navy craft, including LHAR-class multi-purpose ships, landing craft utility, landing craft air cushion (LCAC) and ship-shore connector (SSC).

Services under the contract include concept design and engineering, as well as programme management for the production and delivery of craft.

Serco will also provide fleet support including ship life extension programme (SLEP), repair work and vessel retirement.
