International services company Serco has partnered with Briggs Marine to bid for the Royal Navy’s future marine services contract.

Called Marine Services 2022, the contract will replace the current Provision of Marine Services and Range Safety and Aircrew Training contracts. These contracts are managed by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The association between Serco and Briggs dates back to 2007. The parties have provided significant support to the existing Provision of Marine Services contract.

The companies were able to deliver 99.9% performance for the tasks provided for the contract.

The geographical presence of the two companies also positions them as a strong supplier to offer support to the Royal Navy both domestically and abroad.

As a UK marine contractor, Briggs Marine provides services such as vessel charter and management, submarine cable installation, maintenance and repair, environmental consultancy and training, and diving services.

Serco services range from towing submarines to trialling advanced maritime technology.

Serco chief executive Kevin Craven said: “Serco and Briggs Marine have a strong relationship developed over many years and I am delighted that we have agreed to work together on this important new contract.

“We have kept our promises to the Royal Navy and UK taxpayer throughout the Provision of Marine Services contract, despite its challenging financial performance.

“I am immensely proud of the outstanding service we have delivered to the Royal Navy since 1996. Our partnership with Briggs offers a unique combination of skills and experience to meet the high standards of the Royal Navy and deliver value for the taxpayer.”
