Sea has successfully completed the testing of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) thin line towed array, KraitArray, to demonstrate and prove its sensing performance.

The SEA-funded trials were conducted by three SEA engineering experts and a technician in the English Channel last month.

During testing, KraitArray was deployed from a small vessel to showcase its agility, flexibility, and sensing performance in small vessels.

Data gathered from the trials helped to identify the performance of the ASW solution’s crucial aspects.

This data will support the next level of product development for KraitArray and Krait Defence System.

According to the company, the KraitArray will be soon be deployed from an uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) in the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD)-funded trials. It will also be deployed for other overseas trials from an uncrewed surface platform next month.

KraitArray is already operational with several customers.

SEA claims that the array offers undersea situational awareness on various small ships and autonomous vessels.

SEA Undersea Battlespace head Alex Key said: “It is encouraging that these trials have proven the KraitArray’s sensing performance when deployed from small vessels.

“The operational need of today’s navies mean that they require ASW solutions that offer an enhanced sensing capability which can be deployed from smaller and more agile vessels, providing a larger and more flexible detection range.

“SEA is well-placed to deliver solutions that directly answer the needs of navies around the world and at a lower cost. We will continue to test all aspects of our system so that we can continue to evolve this agile ASW solution.”

Krait Defence System is SEA’s complete ASW solution for smaller vessels. In addition to KraitArray, KraitSearch, KraitShield and KraitStrike are also part of the Krait Defence System.
