Science Applications International (SAIC) has won a $63.5m task order to provide mission engineering and integration services to the US Navy’s Global Deterrence and Defense Department (Code GX) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana.

Under the SeaPort-NxG Multiple Award Contract, SAIC will provide expertise, facilities, equipment, and administration support for advanced hypersonic technologies supported by Code G besides programmes and projects acquired by or transitioned to Code GX.

The prime contract has a one-year base period of performance, along with four one-year additional options.

The scope of the single-award order covers wide service areas, including research and development, engineering, cyber security, modelling and simulation, system safety, and configuration management.

Other service areas covered include logistics, support equipment, and programme support for hypersonic technology analysis, demonstration and engineering.

SAIC Defense Systems Group executive vice-president and general manager Jim Scanlon said: “SAIC looks forward to the opportunity to support NSWC Crane with our proven ability to fill gaps, handle project surges, and use the inherent knowledge we have accumulated over the past 30 years to solve complex technical challenges.

“We are proud to earn the confidence of NSWC Crane, and to support their mission by providing engineering and technical support for navy sensors, electronics, electronic warfare, and special warfare weapons.”

Last month, SAIC secured a $60m contract from the US Navy to provide mission engineering support for the US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).

Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price contract, SAIC will continue to provide support by testing heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes.
