Science Applications International (SAIC) has won a $171.5m contract from the US Navy to continue providing training solutions as part of the Fleet Deployment Training Program.

Under the contract, the company will also provide virtual and synthetic training environments.

This programme will aid the US Navy Fleet Forces (USFF) and related Fleet commands and activities.

The renewed prime contract has a ten-month base period of performance, along with four one-year additional options and one six-month extension option.

In May 2015, SAIC was awarded a $118.5m contract to provide the US Fleet Forces Command with fleet deployment training programme support.

SAIC Defense Systems Group executive vice-president and general manager Jim Scanlon said: “SAIC is proud to continue to bring sailors from across the globe together through live, virtual, and constructive training environments to enhance navy tactics and training required to certify the readiness of units and Battle Groups to meet deployed mission requirements.

As per the contract, SAIC will continue to offer the requisite fleet training programme the support required to assist fleet forces certification.

It will also assist the USFF for the pre-deployment and sustainment training execution within the Fleet Training Continuum, Fleet Response Training Plan, Optimized Fleet Response Plan, and joint training requirements or capabilities framework.

SAIC Motor will continue to perform tasks including pre-planning meetings, mid-term planning conference, master scenario event list scripting, final plans, modelling and simulations, academic seminars, event execution, assessment phase, lessons learned and lessons, and event debriefs.

The company will also continue to aid the Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) programme, which includes integrated activities such as group commander (FST-GC), joint (FST-J), sustainment (FST-S), as well as synthetic and live BOLD ALLIGATOR and Large Scale Exercise series exercises.

SAIC will also support missile defence and sea exercises. These exercises provide an appropriate venue for deployment certification for Carrie Strike Groups.
