Polish Gdynia Naval Port Command has contracted Saab to provide integrated logistics support for Double Eagle Mk III and Double Eagle SAROV systems.

Saab noted that the latest contract is an extension of the existing service for Double Eagle Mk III and Double Eagle SAROV systems dedicated for mine countermeasures (MCM) operations.

Work on the $3.72m (zl14.7m) contract will start this year and complete in 2023.

Saab’s Double Eagle family includes a set of underwater vehicles for MCM operations and features different vehicle configurations and payload integration.

The Double Eagle SAROV is a safe and cost-effective hybrid system that can perform both detection and disposal.

It can be equipped to operate both as a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and as an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).

Meanwhile, the Double Eagle Mk III was installed aboard the first ORP Kormoran II vessel.

The SAROV systems will be installed on the succeeding ships built as part of the Kormoran II programme.

Kormoran II is a class of MCMV being developed as part of the Polish naval modernisation programme. It aims to improve maritime safety and security in Polish waters.
