The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) has awarded follow-on production contracts worth $150m to Lockheed Martin for delivery of the target sight system (TSS).

The new agreement will see the company supply TSS for installation on to the US Marine Corps' (USMC) AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter.

Lockheed Martin will also manufacture TSS Lot 13 and Lot 14 for use by the USMC as part of the deal, which includes further provisions for the production of TSS Lots 15 and 16.

Lockheed will have total follow-on production contracts worth $284.6m with the latest contract, should all available options are exercised.

Work on the production of the TSS lots will be completed by the company at its facilities in Ocala and Orlando in Florida, US.

The company has delivered more than 100 TSS units to the USMC since 2008, while production and sustainment efforts for the TSS solution are planned to carry on through 2026.

Lockheed Martin previously secured a $33.9m follow-on production contract in 2013 the US NSWC, which entailed the supply of AN / AAQ-30 TSS sensors to be deployed on to the USMC’s AH-1Z Cobra attack helicopter.
