It is intended to support the Defense Policy Review Initiative and will be funded by the Japanese Government as part of the international agreement between the US and Japan.

The Caddell-Nan JV will be responsible for the construction of a new and advanced medical / dental clinic at one of the US Navy’s most remote facilities under the arrangement.

The scope of the project includes a single-level outpatient facility that will be built using reinforced concrete with slab-on-grade foundations, in addition to related components such as exterior walls, windows and roofing.

It will also cover the supply of mechanical and electrical systems, which will be designed to be compatible with the local environment and relevant design standards.

The new outpatient facility will feature a number of amenities, including administration services, a primary care / family practice medical home, an optometry clinic and physical therapy resources.

The site is expected to provide industrial hygiene and preventative medicine and will also house a dental clinic, along with logistics and common areas.

In addition, the scope of the contract comprises a planned upgrade for furniture, fixtures and equipment, in addition to the development of parking spaces for privately owned and emergency vehicles.

Work on the project will be carried out on-site at Apra Harbor and is expected to be completed in August 2020.

US-based company Sherlock, Smith & Adams will serve as the architect for the project, while the Pacific branch of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command will oversee the construction process on behalf of the US Government.
