The Italian Navy’s newest frégate européenne multi-mission (FREMM) frigate, Antonio Marceglia, has completed its sea trials.

ITS Marceglia is the eighth vessel in a series of ten European FREMM frigates developed by Fincantieri for the navy as part of an Italo-French cooperation programme. It is the fourth Italian general purpose ship scheduled for delivery in 2019.

During five months of sea trials, ITS Marceglia completed all tests that are expected for the platform and combat system equipment.

“The 144m-long vessel features a beam of 19.7m and will have a displacement of approximately 6,700t at full load capacity.”
