Global maritime engineering and design provider Gibbs & Cox is set to support Halter Marine for the auxiliary general ocean surveillance ship (T-AGOS(X)) industry study that was awarded recently.
The contract for the detail design and construction is expected to be awarded in 2022, with the delivery of the first vessel scheduled for 2025.

The T-AGOS(X) class vessels are expected to replace the current fleet of four T-AGOS 19 and one T-AGOS 23 small water plane area twin hull (SWATH) ships.
T-AGOS(X) class provides options for an additional six ships and will have an estimated service life of 30 years.
Gibbs & Cox CEO and president Chris Deegan said: “This award represents over a year of pre-award work between G&C and Halter Marine and extends the growing partnership between our organisations.”
Last month, BMT received a contract to carry out industry studies to improve the design of T-AGOS(X).

In August, Gibbs & Cox received a contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) for programme management and technical services.
As per the contract, Gibbs & Cox will aid in the modernisation of the assault craft, submarines, and surface ships of the US Army and Navy.
