General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada has received the Halifax-class Combat Systems (HCCS) In-Service Support (ISS) contract.

The contract, worth $182m, is valid for a period of six years.

Work under the contract will help the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) meet its operational readiness and sustainment objectives.

The contract will cover six combat systems on 12 Halifax-class ships, as well as in RCN Fleet Schools, Fleet Maintenance Facilities and the Naval Electronic Systems Test Range Atlantic and Pacific.

General Dynamics Mission Systems–International vice-president and general manager David Ibbetson said: “General Dynamics has a long and proud history of working closely with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Navy, building on 30 years of support to the Halifax-class ships.

The company is the recipient of the Underwater Warfare Suite Upgrade contract.

Under this contract, General Dynamics is responsible for the modernisation and maintenance of underwater sensors on the Halifax-class ships.

In December last year, General Dynamics Mission Systems received a contract to upgrade and sustain fire control systems and subsystems on the nuclear-powered ballistic-missile submarines (SSBN) operated by the US Navy and the British Royal Navy.
