Elbit Systems has secured contracts to deliver anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities to an undisclosed Asian-Pacific navy.
The contracts, which have a cumulative value of $56m, will be performed over a one-year period.
Elbit Systems will supply the Seagull uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), which will be built to perform ASW missions.
The Seagull USVs will integrate helicopter/ship long-range active sonars (HELRAS) and will be fitted with Elbit’s autonomous suite, combat management system (CMS), and Satellite Communication capability.
The USV is designed for use in ASW, mine countermeasure surveillance, electronic warfare (EW), maritime security, and hydrography missions.
It offers a switchable payload suite that includes EW and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) payloads to enable situational awareness and intelligence gathering.
The company will also provide the towed reelable active passive sonar (TRAPS) systems, which will be installed aboard the customer’s corvettes.
The TRAPS systems are low frequency variable-depth-sonars used for identifying, tracking, and classifying submarines, surface vessels, torpedoes, and midget submarines.

In July last year, the company and the Israeli Navy conducted trials using Elbit’s Skylark C mini UAS aboard the Seagull USV to expand its intelligence-gathering capabilities.
