BAE Systems has secured a systems engineering and integration support services contract to continue working with the US Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) office.

The five-year contract is worth up to $478m.

The SSP is responsible for maintaining the Strategic Weapons System and Attack Weapons System on-board current US Ohio and UK Vanguard class submarines.

The office will also be in charge of overseeing the weapon systems on future US Columbia and UK Dreadnought class submarines.

The applications support system requirements, design, analysis, verification and validation activities throughout the lifecycle of the systems.

The company recently tested advanced precision kill weapon system (APKWS) laser-guided rockets at Yuma Proving Grounds in the US.

The test demonstrated the counter-strike capabilities of the rockets against Class 2 uncrewed aerial systems (UAS).
