Hunterwater: A System Solution for Full-cycle Unmanned Minehunting
By L3Harris | CalzoniHunterwater™ is a next-generation minesweeping system created to perform complete standoff minehunting operations, using a lightweight and simple-to-use unmanned Mine Countermeasure Module (MCM). Hunterwater, a compact and effective unmanned system for minehunting, applies an innovative all-in-one search, identification and automatic neutralization of underwater mine threats. The system allows performing MCM operations safely, using a modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) of compact dimensions.
Designed to perform full-cycle mine manoeuvres remotely with a single compact system, the USV-based system consists of a towed remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the ROVSCAN, to perform search and identification operations. Developed on the novel Precise Acoustic Localization (PAL) concept, the system can neutralise the mine by an autonomous mine-killer, which reacquires the target being guided by an acoustic marker close to the mine.
The design and capabilities of the Hunterwater make the system an ideal solution for organic and non-organic unmanned minehunting. Hunterwater is under development as a full-mission compact standoff module for MCM missions, with sea trials planned for early 2023.
