The top five companies accounted for 11% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Wing Aviation filed the most robotics patents within the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 42 robotics-related patents in the quarter, compared with 29 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) with 38 robotics patent filings, SZ DJI Technology (21 filings), and Boeing (16 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 29% share of total patent filings
The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 29%, followed by China (11%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by the US was 7% higher than the 22% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
