Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a contract for the supply of navigation and radar systems to the Royal Norwegian Navy’s Ula class submarines. This contract, which has been won in an international competition, has been made between the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation and Kongsberg, represented by the naval systems ans surveillance division.

The contract value is approximately NOK65m.

Kongsberg has supplied command and weapons control systems to Norwegian, German and Italian submarines for more than 35 years and this contract results in an important renewal of our product range for submarines. The contract is the result of a long-term effort to strengthen our position as supplier of complete integrated navigation, sonar and command and weapons control systems for submarines.

“There exists a large number of submarines on the world market, which are in need of a mid-life, or life extension, update. In this context this is yet another important reference contract for Kongsberg,” says Kongsberg Defence System’s executive vice president Nils-Oddvar Hagen.
