Mark Stanton has been appointed head of systems at BMT Defence Services Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd. He takes over from Eugene Morgan, former director of systems engineering at BMT Defence Services, who was recently promoted to the position of business development director within the company.

Heading a team of 26, Stanton is responsible for ensuring the delivery of systems engineering services to time, quality and budget, developing the department’s existing business and taking it into new areas. Stanton has almost 20 years experience in the defence industry. Since joining BMT Defence Services in 1999 he has held a number of roles and has been responsible for several challenging programmes in both the naval and land domains. Between 1991 and 1999 Mark worked in systems integration, project management and system design engineering at the Ministry of Defence.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead, including building our capabilities further and expanding our focus from naval systems and platforms to broader military domains and commercial markets,” says Stanton. “Systems engineering is a wide ranging discipline and I am looking forward to exploiting the opportunities that this presents.”

Muir Macdonald, managing director of BMT Defence Services, says: “Mark brings to this key role a strong technical background and, in particular, a thorough understanding of systems engineering tools and techniques. He also has a natural flair for managing projects and staff and, importantly, a fully rounded view of the business lifecycle from identifying opportunities through to project completion.”
