Artboard RECORE Lightweight Composite Products for Marine Industry

Artboard designs, produces, manufactures and supplies state-of-the-art reinforced composite panels to the marine industry. The company provides composite material solutions that surpass customers’ expectations in fire resistance, moisture resistance and technological performance.

The goal of the company is to offer a combination of cutting-edge technology with comprehensive design and engineering capabilities. Artboard offers consulting services with technical support based on experience and expertise.

Lightweight, fire-resistant glass fibre-reinforced composite panels

Artboard – RECORE offers a wide range of fibre-reinforced panels, which are strong, lightweight and fire safe.

By laminating multiple composite fibre layers consisting of thermosetting plastic and fibreglass, and then compacting them into moulds, Artboard panels possess lightweight and fire and moisture-resistant qualities that are essential for naval vessels.

The products can also be divided into three groups according to the resin used to achieve desired product properties:

  • Phenolic resin
  • Silica resin
  • Melamine resin

Combined with the final applications, Artboard panels are specially designed for particular naval functions such as floor panels, air ducts composite material, or curved panels for ship interiors.

State-of-the-art floor panels for marine vessel interiors

Artboard floor panels represent the third-generation of lightweight floor panels. Improvements to core and skin technology gives the panels excellent mechanical properties such as flexibility, compression strength, fire and moisture resistance, varied assembly options, and improved acoustical properties. Fire resistance is particularly enhanced in its mechanical properties in high-temperature areas.

The Artboard light floor panel is a phenolic glass fibre-reinforced structure containing varied types of glass fibre weave. Mechanical properties are achieved with specific fibre types and orientation.

Non-combustible panels – lightweight NC panels for ship interiors

Artboard non-combustible panels are silica-based and reinforced with glass fibres, which have been used as a core material for ships, mega-yachts and boats interiors. NC panels are versatile and can have decorative metals such as stainless steel, HPL, or aluminium attached to its surface. The phenolic surface, with low flame spread characteristics, can be applied on NC core directly in the production process. Panels made with these materials have higher mechanical properties.

Innovative floating flooring for vibration absorption

Floating Floor is an excellent design solution for increasing passenger comfort with minimal construction work required. Its profile ensures enough surface support for absorption material is provided, which increases passenger comfort and offers full vibration isolation with (6 DOF) approach, without the need for screws between the floor panel and main (sub) frame.

About Artboard

The company was founded by Lars Henning and Tore Andersson in 1984. As the current owner and managing director, Lars Henning is the main leader of a team of successful engineers with extensive expertise in the area of fibre panels for the marine and naval industries. The manufacturing and R&D operations are run in the modern manufacturing unit in Timrå. In 2012, Artboard made considerable investments in its technological base, to improve its standing for future growth.
