The US Navy has placed orders with General Dynamic's (GD) subsidiary Electric Boat to provide support yard services for moored training ships and reactor-plant planning yard services for nuclear submarines.
Under the $21.1m contract, the company will work on submarine life cycle from concept formulation and design through construction, maintenance and modernisation, as well as inactivation and disposal.
The contract's cumulative value could reach $121.2m through 2016 if all options are exercised and funded.
Work on the contract will be carried out by the company's engineering and design organisation.
