Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has received a modification contract from the US Navy to continue providing technical and engineering services for the construction of Zumwalt Class destroyers (DDG-1000).

The $13m contract provides additional funding for the composite work conducted on the deckhouse of the ship.

Under the extension contract, the company will provide technical and engineering services for design-related activities to support construction and maintenance of the ship design.

Huntington Ingalls is currently building the deckhouse, hangar and peripheral vertical launch systems for DDG-1000 and DDG-1001.
