General Dynamics (GD) American Overseas Marine (AMSEA) has been chosen to provide operations and maintenance services for the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command.

Under the $27.2m contract AMSEA will provide a wide range of operations and maintenance services including crewing, engineering, maintenance, procurement and provisioning for seven large, medium-speed, roll-on / roll-off (LMSR) vessels.

LMSRs can carry an entire US Army task force, including 58 tanks and 48 other tracked vehicles, as well as more than 900 trucks and other wheeled vehicles.

The vessels can accommodate a crew of approximately 30 civilian mariners.
