The Royal Navy of Oman has received the first of three 12t Bollard Pull Tugs built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) in India.

The 24m-long tug SANAD-1 is 8m wide and has a displacement capacity of about 1.70m with a speed of 8kt.

The tugboat will undergo missions including berthing and unberthing of vessels in and around naval and civilian harbours, recovering sinkers of up to 3t in 50m of water and assisting other vessels during firefighting.

The tugboats to be delivered to the Royal Navy of Oman are being built at the shipbuilding facility in the port town of Vasco.
