Lockheed Martin has submitted its proposal for the US Navy consolidated afloat networks and enterprise services (CANES) programme.

Lockheed Martin’s Mission Systems & Sensors business vice-president of CANES, Joe Villani, said, “combined with our commercial off-the-shelf-insertion business model, Lockheed Martin is uniquely positioned to deliver a modern, cost-effective information-system network that integrates sailors’ operational needs.”

The CANES programme aims to integrate the navy’s wide range of afloat information systems networks into one modern shipboard computing system, minimising the infrastructure size and operational costs.

The US Navy is expected to select a contractor for the limited deployment phase early next year.
