The Indian Navy has commissioned an indigenous fast attack warship, INS Karuva, in an effort to prevent asymmetric threats from sea.

According to Press Trust of India (PTI), Indian Air force commander-in-chief Strategic Forces Command Air Marshal KJ Mathews said, “The newly commissioned warship [INS Karuva] will definitely strengthen the navy’s ability in future.”

The vessel is equipped with fire power for day-night surveillance and is capable of operating in shallow waters.

The 325t warship can cruise at a speed of more than 30kt and is used for coastal patrol and anti-piracy missions.
