The Canadian Navy is participating in the annual Arctic training mission, also known as Operation Nanook.
The frigate HMCS St. John’s and coastal defence vessels HMCS Moncton and HMCS Summerside, with 1,000 Canadian personnel, will train alongside US coast guard cutter USCGC Willow.
The operation, the largest of three annual missions in the Arctic, will involve a simulated marine disaster and an air disaster to test the military’s search and rescue capabilities.
The exercise will also see participation from the Royal Danish navy.
