The Pakistani Navy has formally inducted a guided missile frigate, PNS Alamgir, into service at the Karachi Naval Dockyard.

PNS Alamgir, commissioned on 31 August 2010, is the former USS McInerney belonging to the Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigates.

The frigate will strengthen maritime security operations capacity in the Arabian Sea in addition to supporting the navy surface fleet.

The navy has also commissioned two indigenously built small tanker-cum-utility ships (STUS), Madadgar and Rasadgar, to increase logistic support.
