Lockheed Martin has received a contract from the US Marine Corps (USMC) for the vehicle optic sensor systems II (VOSS II) and portable rapid deployment surveillance systems (PRDSS) and associated services.

Under the $58.6m contract, the company will provide 110 VOSS II and 30 PRDSS, including additional field services and equipment in support of the systems.

The Gyrocam VOSS is a vehicle-mounted sensor system, while the PRDSS is a portable, rapid deployment surveillance system.

VOSS provides high-resolution colour, night vision and thermal sensors in a 15in class gyro-stabilised gimbal for remote surveillance needs, and PRDSS provides the command personnel with a detailed view of activity in the area.
