The US Navy has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the US Army to assign all 10 of the army’s joint high speed vessels (JHSV) to the navy.

The MOA is aimed to formalise and determine the management, leadership, and requirements to deliver the capability to the combatant commanders.

The JHSV program was conceived to assign five of the first 10 vessels to the army and the remaining to the navy, which later changed during the army / navy Warfighter Talks in December 2010.

The Military Sealift Command will crew the JHSVs with civilian mariners or contract mariners.
