The US Navy has officially accepted the delivery of the future Arleigh Burke Class warship, USS William P Lawrence, from Northrop in Pascagoula, Mississippi, US.

Designated DDG 110, the ship was delivered after the successful completion of combined super trials in the Gulf of Mexico.

During the super trials, the ship and its systems, including communications, combat and propulsion, were tested to demonstrate its operational capability.

The 510ft-long destroyer has a displacement capacity of 9,500t and is powered by four gas-turbine propulsion plants to cruise at a speed of 30kt.
