Iran is planning to indigenise and renovate two-thirds of the equipment used by the Islamic Republic Army’s Navy in the next ten years, Iranian Army commander
Major General Ataollah Salehi has said.

The commander underlined his forces’ capabilities in manufacturing surface and subsurface vessels and stressed that the naval troops were capable of repelling any threat to the country’s coasts and water borders.

Iran has adopted strategic measures that allow it to simultaneously use its vessels, submarines and coastal equipment for naval and coastal defence, according to the Fars News Agency.

Islamic Revolution Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed that increasing manpower and recruiting talented personnel were necessary for the future of the country’s naval forces.
